Discovering New Ways of Communicating Cultural Heritage
Kuldīga Creative Summer School 2020: Service Design for Museums
In collaboration with the NGO ‘Creative Museum’, various Latvian cultural heritage institutions used service design methods to redesign and critically consider the concept of ‘museum’, which traditionally was thought of as a space for storing artefacts. The challenge was to reframe the understanding of museums as inclusive, transparent and accessible spaces known for their critical, dialogical and educational roles in shaping our pasts and futures. Summer school participants researched, prototyped and tested various public communication tools, such as digitisation of museum services, augmented reality and customer navigation.
